Plant Operator I

Location: Big Lake, TX

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Canes Midstream is a private equity backed midstream oil and gas company with assets in the prolific Permian Basin. Canes Midstream operates the largest private greenfield gathering and processing system in the Southern Midland Basin. The Company is experiencing significant growth and seeking a Plant Operator I. The Plant Operator I position is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and operating the equipment within the plant boundaries, and may be asked to assist with supporting equipment in the surrounding area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Adhere to all safety practices, procedures, and policies.
  2. Monitor operational parameters and make necessary adjustments to meet specific production targets.
  3. Perform skilled routine and non-routine maintenance on plant and surrounding equipment. This can include equipment such as: Compressors Pumps Filter Houses In-Line Screens Piping and Valving Automobiles Pressurized Process Vessels and Supporting Equipment
  4. Create and maintain operational and inspection records.
  5. Document all operational activities via plant logs and computer records.
  6. Ensure proper housekeeping.
  7. Recommend facility modifications or procedure changes to enhance operation and cost analysis.
  8. Must comply with facility regulations and respond within critical time limitations to unusual operating conditions and changing operational modes.
  9. Various other tasks as required.

Perform any other related duties as requested or assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability(ies) required.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Perform work operations which permit frequent opportunity for decision-making of minor importance and also frequent opportunity for decision-making of major importance; the latter of which would affect the work operations of other employees and/or clientele to a moderate degree.
  • Regular use of complex machines and equipment (desktop/laptop computer and software, road and production machines and equipment, etc.).
  • Occasional routine contact with persons outside the organization. This would include contact with suppliers, mail service, etc.
  • Contacts occasionally with others beyond immediate associates, but generally of a routine nature. May obtain, present or discuss data, but only as pertains to an immediate and specific assignment. No responsibility for obtaining cooperation or approval of action or decision.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school, plus specialized schooling and/or on the job education in a specific skill area; e.g. data processing, clerical/administrative, equipment operation, etc.; plus 12 to 18 months related experience and/or training. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Must successfully complete all required pre-employment testing.
  • Must have a valid Texas Driver’s License and maintain insurability with corporate insurance company.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Preference will be given to qualified applicants with one to three years’ experience in maintenance of gas gathering.

SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Intermediate: Alphanumeric Data Entry, Database, Spreadsheet, Word Processing/Typing
  • Basic: Contact Management

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
